What you should know about Ohio’s use of RICO charges
RICO stands for “Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act,” and is typically used to target organized crime. In Ohio, however, “engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity,” a statute based on the RICO Act, can cover a wide range of criminal accusations – far more than what the federal law generally covers. In Ohio, the state level racketeering and organized crime offenses are charged under R.C. 2923.32, also referred to as Engaging in Pattern of Corrupt Activity. These violations commonly coincide with allegations of murder, drug trafficking, theft, and various other crimes of deception. The government must prove the existence of an enterprise, to sustain a conviction under R.C. 2923.32. Whether you are accused of corruption charges by Ohio or are facing federal RICO charges, call us as soon as you can so we can get started on your case.
Experienced help for Columbus drivers facing OVI charges
Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is illegal in Ohio. While the legal blood alcohol content (BAC) limit is .08, you can be charged with operating a vehicle impaired (OVI) if law enforcement even suspects that you are impaired behind the wheel. You can even be convicted of OVI when your BAC is below the legal limit.
Our Columbus OVI defense lawyers understand what a conviction can cost you – not only in fees and fines, but in terms of your job or career, your financial stability, and your future. We represent first-time and repeat OVI offenders in criminal court as well as in Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) hearings. Call Soroka & Associates today if you are facing OVI charges.
